Photography Workshops in Angus
East Coast of Scotland
Calm, small-group photography workshops for thoughtful photographers
who want time, guidance, and confidence behind the camera.
Your Guide, Not Your Instructor
I’m Duncan, a landscape photographer based in Angus.
I teach photography the same way I practise it — slowly, thoughtfully, and with attention to place.
Small groups suit me.
Quiet conversations matter.
And learning works best when there’s no pressure to perform.
I know what it’s like to feel unsure, rushed, or overwhelmed by settings and expectations.
These workshops are designed to remove that noise, so you can focus on seeing more clearly and feeling confident behind the camera.
My work has been recognised and published, but what matters most here is how comfortable you feel asking questions, making mistakes, and finding your own way of photographing the landscape.
That’s the space I aim to hold.
Workshops Rooted in Real Places
Each workshop is shaped by the landscape it’s taught in, and the people attending.
Beginner Photography Workshop
Learn to understand your camera and move beyond automatic mode, at a calm and supportive pace.
Glen Affric in Autumn
An immersive, slow-paced experience in one of Scotland’s most inspiring landscapes.
“I was fortunate to have Duncan on hand to give me all the little hints and tips to make the experience all the more worthwhile. His calm approach and deep technical knowledge meant I came away with images I otherwise may have missed.”
How the Workshops Work
These workshops are designed to be calm, small, and pressure-free.
They’re available as one-to-one tuition or small groups, with a maximum of three people.
Each session is shaped around real locations in Angus and the East Coast.
It’s adjusted to suit your pace, experience, and interests.
You don’t need to be confident.
You just need to be curious.
Recognised Work
2024 Scottish Landscape Photographer of the Year — Category Winner
Alongside other nationally and internationally recognised work
Fine Art Prints
Bring the landscape into your home.
Alongside teaching, I continue to work on long-term personal projects across Scotland.
These photographs are made slowly, revisiting the same places over time and responding to light, season, and mood.
A small selection of this work is available as fine art prints.
“Excellent quality, detailed prints and great customer service. Duncan was super helpful and made sure everything turned out perfectly, just how I wanted it. Highly recommend!”
Commissions & Private Hire
I offer a small number of bespoke commissions and private photography sessions.
These are shaped around your time in Scotland, whether that’s a portrait in a meaningful location or a quietly guided session during a longer visit.
Each commission is personal, unhurried, and planned with care.
“Duncan did a live photo shoot for my daughter on her horse while on a trek. It was such a bespoke and personal experience and I cannot rate the quality of the photos enough. Unbelievable attention to detail. Thoroughly professional experience but with a personal touch by a clearly professional photographer”
Galleries
A selection of personal work exploring Scotland’s landscapes, forests, and coastlines.
These galleries reflect an ongoing relationship with place, shaped by time, weather, and return visits.
