Photography Workshops in Angus

East Coast tuition, private photo tours, bespoke days across Scotland

One-to-one and small-group workshops, tailored to where you are with your photography.

Your Guide, Not Your Instructor

I’m Duncan, a Scottish landscape and nature photographer based in Angus.

I teach photography the same way I practise it. Slowly, thoughtfully, and with attention to place.

One-to-one and small groups suit me.
Quiet conversations matter.
And learning works best when there’s no pressure to perform.

If you’ve ever felt unsure, rushed, or overwhelmed by settings and expectations, you’re not alone.

These workshops are built to remove that noise, so you can see more clearly and feel confident behind the camera.

My work has been recognised and published, but what matters most here is that you feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and finding your own way.

That’s the space I aim to hold.

Signature Workshops

John Harris

“I was fortunate to have Duncan on hand to give me all the little hints and tips to make the experience all the more worthwhile. His calm approach and deep technical knowledge meant I came away with images I otherwise may have missed.”

How the Workshops Work

These workshops are calm, small, and pressure-free — from complete beginner through to advanced.

They’re available one-to-one or in small groups (up to four), so it stays personal and unhurried.

Most sessions run across Angus, Tayside, Perthshire, Fife, and Aberdeenshire, plus the East Coast — shaped around your pace, experience, and what you want to photograph.

If you’ve got a specific place in mind, we can build a bespoke day around it too.

Throughout the year, I also run Signature workshops in carefully chosen locations across Scotland, with set dates and a slower, more immersive feel.

You don’t need to be confident. You just need to be curious.

Commissions & Private Hire

Bespoke photography and private guided photo tours in Scotland.

I take on a small number of commissions, private sessions, and guided photo tours each year, shaped around what you’re here for and the kind of images you want to come home with.

This could be a portrait in a meaningful place, a calm couple session on the coast, or a private guided day exploring locations with a photographer who knows the light, the timings, and the quieter spots.

Everything is unhurried and planned properly, so it feels straightforward from the first message.

  • Private guided photo tours (half day, full day, or multi day by request)

  • Private photography tuition days for visitors to Scotland

  • Portraits and couple sessions in natural locations

  • Small business and brand imagery with an outdoor feel

  • Licensing enquiries for existing work (commercial use)

Tell me your dates, the area you’ll be based in, and what you’d love to photograph. I’ll reply with a clear plan and the best next step.

Ashley Alexander

“Duncan did a live photo shoot for my daughter on her horse while on a trek. It was such a bespoke and personal experience and I cannot rate the quality of the photos enough. Unbelievable attention to detail.
